Exceptionally well done, Roy. About the only thing you left out was the impact of online gaming/sports betting and the "stock market as a better bet of a casino."
NYTimes had similar piece on Disney World and Orlando this week. Asking if middle class could still afford a trip to the Magic Kingdom. As always your piece was well written.
Just a tiny suggestion that would pick up business a slight bit would be to either let Vegas residents park free or sell them an inexpensive yearly parking pass for..say..fifty bones just to let their residents enjoy a few nights out on the Strip. Pipe dream of course.
Long gone are the days when this young lad and his then girlfriend drove into the driveway at the Aladdin back in 78 and paid $18 a night for an unbelievable room.
Hi Roy, great article. I reported to Bill Hornbuckle while working for MGM Resorts. He is in my opinion the brightest operator in the Gaming and hospitality business. If anyone can navigate the current waters of Las Vegas, it is Bill. I have faith in the industry I spend 40 plus years in as they continue to reinvent reasons to visit our city. Cheers...
I second your opinion of Bill. Quite the gentleman with great vision. I met him a bunch of times when I worked at National Harbor. So glad they let his predecessor and his wife walk.
Scribe, you are now an economic guru! Congrats!! Thanks for the tips!
Keep 'em coming! I always look forward to my Sunday Morning Coffee!
Not an economic guru by any means but I did stay once at a Holiday Inn Express.

Herb- I’ve always known where that line for me to defer is drawn. I leave that to the experts. Thank you.
Enjoy your trip.

As always Roy, a pleasure! Luckily I have been to Vegas so I do not need to add it to my bucket list. It sounds like many are in the same boat.

Hey! Seattle is a great place to be in September! No resort fees and no $20 bottles of water. Come see me sometime!
Last time I visited was 2021 and was shocked by the prices. I’m sure Vegas is still fun for some folks, but not me.
That’s too bad but 100% self-inflicted.
