Loved the read about Heidi Evans. I had no idea of her accomplishments. WOW.

I love the line about Conseco and Armstrong. Priceless.

I’d throw in some Bonding.

While you dreamt away in jolly ol’ England, Terry and I fed Andi at our home with some Chinese Mahjong to follow. My daughter just flew NY/London on BA and had the same issue with WiFi. Not sure why? And I’m not sure if you have ever followed the “Welcome to Wrexham” series on Netflix, but the 5th season just premiered. Turned me into a “somewhat” soccer fan, if just for the celebrity of its producers/financiers. Be sure to watch the “Rafa” documentary (4 episodes) on Netflix, too. A true retrospect of a king of the sport. Finally . . . the sweetness of your ongoing relationship with your summer camp crush reminded me of my summer crush on Michael Gottsegan. I can still see his dark curls, tanned skin and pearly white smile . . . oh, the heartache!

Airfare pricing is crazy.

I’d love to see relegation come to the major US sports.

For sports fans, two good documentaries to watch are:

Jerry West: The Logo

He built dynasties, broke barriers, and became the silhouette that defines the game. But beneath Jerry West's legendary NBA legacy was a man haunted by perfection and pain. Through rare interviews with family and basketball icons, this documentary reveals the complex truth behind The Logo. (Amazon Prime)

The John Elway documentary, titled "Elway"

It premiered on Netflix on December 22, 2025, offering an intimate look at his life and legendary NFL career.  The documentary chronicles John Elway’s journey from his early days at Stanford University to his 16-season career with the Denver Broncos, highlighting both his athletic triumphs and personal struggles.

Around the corner from the Wolseley is The Arlingto, which is marvelous. I am ancient enough to remember when the Wolseley was a car showroom for Wolsely cars. The restaurant was created by Jeremy King, who lost it a few years ago in an ugly hostile takeover by the owners of The Ivy. Some people think it's deteriorated - I don't. But the Arlington is wonderful, Jeremy's creation in what was formerly his Caprice. And in the Strand he has just spent seventeen trillion pounds of reopening the legenary Simpsons-in-the-Strand - more English than the king. ANYWAY, have fun!!

30 trips to London? Wow! I've been there 16 times myself. One of my favorite cities in the world for so many reasons. No internet on a plane on a long distance flight? That can't happen in this day and age. Shame on BA. Safe travels!

Thanks Mike. Enjoy the WC. Look forward to reading about it.

I am amazed that you wrote the entire blog without mentioning the incredible heat wave in London. Also, no mention of the upsets at the French Open. And last, how can anyone root against Wemby after his passionate outpouring after beating the Thunder? Travel safely my friend.

I can. Go Knicks.
