Since we’re traveling down memory lane, the Knicks used to practice (before SUNY) in the gym at Lexington School for the Deaf in the 70’s. It was in Queens on 73rd St and 30th Ave, minutes away from LaGuardia Airport. I can’t remember exactly which year in the early 70’s, but us neighborhood kids waited outside and met all of the players. Of note was Frazier, who wore a full-length mink coat and drove off in his Rolls Royce with “WCF” plates. I can’t find any of those autographs from that time.
Years later, when I was at St. John’s U and working as an EMT in Hell’s Kitchen, I treated and transported a pedestrian who had a ladder fall on him on a midtown street. The pedestrian was Earl Monroe, who suffered a possible fractured collarbone.
How about theses players for old Knick’s teams: Willie Naulls(the whale), Kenny Sears, Ray Felix, Carl Braun, Harry Gallican, Richie Guerin, Ray Felix…I can go on and on. And remember the. Early NBA had teams, and stars, in cities like Syracuse, Ft Wayne, Minneapolis, and more. MSG could not give away seats. My dad once took me to a triple header. Yes… you read it right. Double headers for NBA Games were not uncommon.
Golden Knights disappointed me but they really fidnt belong there. They were a mediocre team at best.
I grew up a Chicago Cubbie fan, so I can relate to the long wait between championship seasons for our childhood team of choice. Congratulations on the Knicks win....I know how you're feeling.
So how do you think the Vegas A’s will accommodate the impact of its hitter friendly environment.? Move the fences back? Modify the ball? Will the A’s suffer the same fate as the Rockies? No pitcher in their right mind would want to sign with them. Topics for a future SMC? Happy Fathers Day Roy.

As a Chicago boy, I knew the Knicks' starting line up. I remember an article in Time Magazine talking about their defense. We were big Walt Frazier fans (Southern Illinois University). Pull for Wyndham today. My friend's son caddies for him. My friend played basketball at Michigan. His kid played golf at Pepperdine. Big Wave Dave, Have a Day
