I always love reading your blogs but, this was a special one today, Roy. Sounds like you had a pretty successful childhood. No wonder you turned out so wonderful. I enjoyed reading and knowing about your relationship with your parents.
My Dad is 97 and still going strong. Although he’s stubborn and feisty, I can’t bare the thought of him not being here. He was always my hero but, as you mentioned the tables have turned. He doesn’t like giving up control when I attempt to help him do something. That’s the cycle of life. He’s much more tolerant of Jerry!
Happy Father’s Day to you! Mazel Tov on soon-to-be a Grandpa! Love to Andi! 😍
You made me ugly cry today!! I have wonderful memories of my parents, especially my father. He took me to baseball, basketball and hockey games. I was the son he never had!!! I wish I could call the number I called every day until they were gone. Enjoy the memories of your dad today and know that you are a wonderful dad and soon to be grandpa!! Happy Father’s Day Roy!!
So many memories flood my mind but so many unanswered questions also. Would love at least one more day with each of them. But one more day would not be enough. Thanks for helping me reminisce. Happy Father’s Day Roy.
I was choked up reading this blog. I had the same relationship with my parents…especially my dad. I owe both of them for so many things and my success in life was due to them.
Happy Father’s Day. And by the way I’ve been to Cookys Can’t remember much.
Such an amazing, wonderful tribute to your Dad, it's obvious that he was very proud of you. One of your best writings yet, my friend! Happy Father's Day to you and all the fathers out there
As usual, another great piece! Brought back some memories of my own, especially when my father and I had a baseball or football catch (Field of Dreams moment for many of us). I have always appreciated and loved my parents. Hope you and Andi are well! And Happy Father's Day!
Roy- What wonderful memories. We really were blessed growing up during the mid-century glory days. thank you for sharing!
Great stuff, Roy. Such wonderful memories!

You were a lucky man to have parents like you described and they were lucky to have a mensch of a son like you. Beautifully said Roy.

Great walk down memory lane, Roy. Glad I had the opportunity to know both your mom & dad (as well as Mike & Ken). Happy Fathers Day Roy.
Never knew your father's name was Herb. Not many great ones left with that name!!!
Herbie- You told me all the great ones are a Herb. Tough for me to disagree~. Thanks for the note.
Always the best! Thanks for the memories!

Great morning read Roy, saving the voicemails such a smart thing.... Now I understand the Lifetime Parking Lottery.
Happy Fathers Day!
Lovely. My father also instilled that parking ethic. Left many a Yankees and Jets game early. Happy Father’s day.
What a terrific tribute to your father. He sounds like he was a caring, loving dad. Listening to
His voicemails today will bring back
Wonderful memories. Happy Father's Day
Thanks for the memory. Have a great Father’s day
