My sister who is 8 years older went to Camp Guilford. My parents who were not thinking very clearly decided to send me there at 5 years old. To say that I definitely was not ready for sleep away camp is an understatement. I was not happy and a 2 weeks after got there I came down with the mumps!!! They locked me in a little room attached to the nurses office and had to wait there until my parents came to rescue me!! So many people have wonderful memories of sleep away camp but I do not!! I love looking forward to your articles. They bring back things that I haven’t thought about for a long time. Now I can laugh about them!!!
Loved the piece. I was invited to go to a baseball game at Yankee Stadium that day with my best friend. I decided to stay home because of the lunar landing. Glad I did because I wanted to take in that event. I knew there were other baseball games to attend.
That was my dad's 50th birthday, so I'll never forget that day and his birthday present of watching the lunar landing. Another great trip down memory lane
Simply the best.
Always look forward to SMC , wonderful look back to a different time. Good memories and yes we had an Impala too

And you missed a Stick Michael walk-off single! You are probably over it by now. Thx Mike.
Good player, good GM (or whatever his role with the Yankees was after he retired)
Thanks to your Mets, 1969 was a very painful year to be a Cubbie fan in Chicago....Damn Tommy Agee!
Great pieces of history…as u always do.
Noto Bene: my first car was an Impala super sport convertible. Plus…The Impalas…great singing group from the late 50s and early 60s.
And…a sleep away camp.
