Roy, you will forever be the main character in Rabbi Alper’s Silversea Shabbat story! I do give you credit for trying. Please tell your wonderful wife Andi that I miss her. I miss you too……sort of!!!!!! 😂😂
Roy, you did a great job and you underestimated yourself. You should have included the fact that following services you were elected president of B’nai Silversea by a vote of 7 to 4.
Roy at your advanced age and elevated height you still have not learned to duck when the assassin takes aim? And did you think that after being a temple president that being a Rabbi was a promotion? My only regret reading this story was that I could not have been there to heckle you during the Amidah.
Bob Alper is a cousin of mine. Whenever he came to Birmingham, the Rittenbaum family would get together to meet him. Small world
Fran- That is amazing! Thanks for the note.

Love it. Roy you are the best story teller about your life encounters! Thanks for making me smile today
Thank you Ms. Sally…it’s been way too long!
Too bad we weren't on the cruise. My wife Joy is a rabbi. Glad you were able to pinch hit and have a great story to tell!
And that social media review, Bah Humbug!!!
Mike— I could used Joy. Heck, I could have used Rabbi Satlow from Temple Emanu-El in East Meadow who bar mitzvah me!!
Great story Roy. So you swung and missed... but you were at the plate!

Rabbi- You are not so funny, very funny guy. Wait till you hear my B’nai Silversea Kol Nidre appeal.
This sounds like a fun trip, I think you are having a blast !! Enjoy the second week ;-)
Being a bullpen rabbi was your second mistake. First mistake?Rainforest tour?…vamanos muchacho!!

Funny, and really interesting, especially in the small world vernacular. Safe journey.
Great punchline.
Call me a cynic Roy. The pamphlet in the foreground of the first photo looks like a racing program to me.
Nick- that’s why I used it!
this could have been a Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusaism
Jeff…can’t make this up…all of a sudden I was a rabbi for 20 very, very loooong minutes!~. Thanks for restack.
Good one as always!! You can be my Rabbi any time! As for Labs, I don't know!
That was classic! Great job Roy!
